If you have yet to take your exam then the next couple of weeks may include some Series 7 holiday studying.
Fret not! It’s warmer inside anyway.
There are ways that you can still have a fun holiday with some time off, and not lose what progress you’ve made so far.
Series 7 Holiday Studying Tips
#1. Review “challenging material” between December 20th and December 24th. As a Series 7 tutor, we suggest you try to keep fresh what you find most challenging over the next four days. Review this material before the holiday so that after the holiday it won’t be so hard to revisit. This will accomplish two things.
First, it will further solidify any difficult sections that you’ve had issues with in the recent past.
Second, this reviewed material is much less likely to be forgotten if you decide to take 3 or 4 days off to enjoy the holiday and relax. Options are ESPECIALLY important to review during this time period. Spreads, straddles, hedging, currency options, and others should be on your list. Options is one section that notoriously slips from one’s mind in short order. Incidentally, we do not recommend that you go more than a week without reviewing Options in a typical month.
#2. Keep your flash cards close, or your study sheet handy if you’re traveling. Given the current reality of COVID-19, we know that many of you won’t likely be traveling. So on that note, even if you find yourself with some downtime at home, keep your flash cards close by for review. A quick 15 minute break from gift exchanges, and Zoom calls with family can be enough to review a few definitions, rules, or Series 7 formulas.
#3. Set aside just one hour to study. There’s no need to study at all if you need to take the whole holiday off. Realistically, three or four days downtime won’t do too much damage to what you already know.
The main risk to taking time off is getting yourself out of the habit of studying. At Professional Exam Tutoring, we can help keep you on track if you think you’ll need some accountability. We will only be closed December 25th, but if you need to book a tutor any other day, feel free to reach out.
All in all, the Series 7 Top-Off difficulty is enough that this exam takes some work. However, a short break from studying, or just a little Series 7 holiday studying won’t set you back much. After the holidays, you can resume where you left off and you won’t feel like much has changed. Happy holidays!
