For some of you, not being able to book your exam will be a relief. If they don’t have an open slot, you can’t take your exam. If you aren’t quite ready, this can be a nice surprise.
On the other hand, when you’re ready to take the exam, a busy test time can be frustrating. You may be ready to take the exam, and more ready for a study break over the holidays. Unfortunately we see this happen often since open slots are not easy to come by over the holidays.
Our recommendation at Professional Exam Tutoring is that you book your exam as early as possible this time of year. Your alternative is to hold off, but when you’re ready visit the scheduling website often. Keep refreshing the booking website every few hours. Even though there may be nothing available when you first check, there are always cancellations. Around the holidays though, they go quick! So, you have to be equally ready.
Late December is Busy!
From our experience one of the most popular times of year for FINRA exams is the last week of the year. It is generally a very quiet week at most offices, and many like to end the year with a passing grade.
No doubt, starting the new year with your exam behind you is a great goal. Our main caution here is to not overdo the pressure to get your exam done before the new year if you aren’t ready. End of year is an arbitrary deadline after all. It’s better that you pass your exam in the first week of January, than fail it the last week of December.
In short, just because you can get one of the few coveted exam slots, doesn’t mean you have to use it.
