With the holidays fast approaching, the temptation is great to close your text book and say “enough is enough” when it comes to studying. There are plenty more enjoyable things you could be doing: shopping, eating, and well, anything else!
The only problem is that you still need to pass your exam to keep your job. So how do you know when you can call it a wrap?
I’ll try to answer that for you in today’s post.
Numbers Don’t Lie
Enough is enough when it comes to studying for most exams when the numbers tell you so.
There is nothing that makes your chance of passing so obviously clear as consistently scoring in the 90%-plus range on your practice exams. Your practice scores will help you know whether you’re ready for your exam.
However, the 90%-plus range is certainly sufficient, but not necessary. Striving for perfection (or close to it) can be overkill. You just need to make sure that your practice scores are comfortably above the passing score. This outcome from a respectable exam prep company will boost your chances.
For instance, let’s take the SIE Exam difficulty level. For the SIE Exam, you want to make sure that you’re scoring in the high-70%/low-80% range with STC’s study material before you take the exam. We believe STC is the most representative exam prep company out there when it comes to practice questions. Anything less make your prospects of passing a nail-biter.
Deadlines Need Focus
There are some instances in life when you are faced with a dilemma. Many of our students run into the FOMO (fear-of-missing-out) dilemma frequently around this time of year.
Do you take a weekend off to enjoy the festivities, or buckle down and study? This requires a rough cost-benefit analysis which you will have to conduct yourself.
Some questions to ask: Are this weekend’s festivities going to be more life-changing than passing my exam? Or, am I sufficiently prepared that I can afford to take the weekend off?
When it comes to most of our students’ experience with our tutors at Professional Exam Tutoring, deadlines are a major motivator.
Of course there are important enough occasions where you should take the weekend off from studying. However, if you have a deadline to meet, your priorities may become more clear.
Yes, Enough is Enough
Overall, you are the only one that knows your true level of preparedness. And unfortunately, there’s no magic to figuring it out.
Are your practice scores showing that you can pass? Have you built in a buffer in case the exam is tougher than your practice tests? Are most questions answered confidently, or typically whittled down to a 50/50 guess?
You can confidently put away your study material when you have that palpable sense of assurance that you’re ready. Deep down, you will know the answer.
Once your through with your exam you can enjoy some holiday cheer!
Good luck!
