Looking for the best Series 7 video course from which to study? After hours of research, we’ve curated a list of the best Series 7 video courses out there. To pass your exam you may need help well beyond the jargon used in the book. In fact, dropping the jargon may be most helpful. For this, video courses are often great. Off-the-cuff examples, and hearing terms explained in plain English are what many videos have that textbooks don’t.
Many people need help with this grueling 3 hour and 45 minute exam. So where can you find the best help? Let’s take a look…
The Best Series 7 Video Course:
Professional Exam Tutoring
Professional Exam Tutoring: Of course, we’re a little bias. That said, the feedback we’ve received for our Series 7 Video Course has been overwhelming. Our goal is to make the hardest sections from the textbook easy and simplified. We also use images wherever we can, and minimize boring, text-only, PowerPoint slides.
With decades of experience, Professional Exam Tutoring’s tutors helped contribute to the videos. We all have a deep background of knowledge and all personally worked with students to know exactly where and what confuses students the most. The owner and founder, Jim Moore, narrates and ensures that each slide is explained as precisely as possible.
Our company’s videos are most positively embraced for their ability to break down complex topics in simple language, and real-life examples. A major difference between Professional Exam Tutoring and most other video courses is that our courses aren’t simply an instructor reading off of a bunch of slides. Furthermore, our company also offers private tutoring (which many prep companies do not) to help pull everything together.
Lastly, our course is quite inexpensive, and does not require any specific textbook to accompany it. And, to round it all off, Professional Exam Tutoring offers a full refund if you are not fully satisfied with the video course. No questions asked.
Our Google Reviews speak for themselves, and will help you see why Professional Exam Tutoring is our #1 recommendation.
Kaplan and STC
The big gorillas in the Series 7 video course world are STC and Kaplan. Both companies have been offering course material on the Series 7 exam for a long, long time. Only in the last five to ten years did both companies create a rich source of video courses. Although we hear many students’ complain of the monotony of some of their videos, they are quite comprehensive. In fact, these may be the most comprehensive video courses on the Internet.
That said, most people don’t need all subjects explained to them over video. You should keep in mind that videos can take much longer to get through than simply reading the text. You’ll need to account for the fact that a 1 hour video may need to be paused, rewound, or slowed down to ensure you get everything you need in terms of content. For sections that don’t require a lot of explanation, we recommend that you just read the textbook. You will be able to get through the material much faster. All in all, while we applaud their comprehensive video course library, we recommend that you use Kaplan and STC’s videos as supplements.
Solomon Exam Prep
Solomon Exam Prep: Solomon is an excellent west-coast based company that also has a great video course selection. Jeremy Solomon (the owner) and his team created content that is very detailed and helpful. Although their courses have little in the way of animation, their videos are comprehensive and cover almost all sections. Student feedback that we’ve received for their courses is generally positive, but some have indicated that the videos go beyond what is necessary for the exam. At times context is helpful for the curriculum, so it is hard to fault them for that. Their video lectures (at the time of this writing) can be purchased for about $100.
Other Series 7 Video Courses
YouTube: YouTube.com has no shortage of free videos explaining different concepts for the Series 7 exam. However, you won’t find a cohesive Series 7 video course on YouTube. From our experience, you might not need one. Most people waste a lot of time watching videos on material that they already know well, or “good enough” for the exam. We highly recommend that you only use video course material for content on which you’re really stumped. YouTube may be helpful to find bite-sized videos on topics where you’re lacking.
Another New York City tutor, Ken Finnen of Capital Advantage Tutoring, has a lot of great (and free) content on YouTube. Check him out if you aren’t looking to pay for a course. Ken runs a one-man show at Capital Advantage Tutoring but is very good at what he does. He is a great guy that I would recommend to anyone.
Test Geek Exam Prep: This company is another one-man-show, and it’s quite popular. Mr. Lee has a lot of free videos on YouTube, but also some video courses offered on his website for around $100. Although his video course is not comprehensive, he teaches in a classroom format that many people seem to gravitate toward. If you’re looking for a classroom setting (but online!), then he may be a good fit.
To sum up, the Series 7 exam can take time to pursue. Finding a good video course shouldn’t take much more of your time. Whether you live in NYC, Los Angeles, or anywhere in between, consider a Series 7 video course to get you started on your studying journey. Of the resources I mentioned above, you are sure to find some valuable help!
